International objectives with an institutional basis

A proposed initiative needs more than a target market or a partner name. The institution needs to establish the purpose, the provision involved, the resources available and the decisions required from its own academic and management authorities.

We work from that institutional brief. The engagement can focus on a single question or coordinate several related preparation tasks, depending on the scope accepted.

Institutional partners and recruitment channels

Partnership support can help define the type of organisation sought, the contribution expected and the information needed to assess relevance. Recruitment-channel work should also establish representation, programme information and responsibilities to prospective learners.

Where appropriate, a scoped review can examine a prospective partner's legal identity, authority and supplied operating information. The institution remains responsible for its appointment and commercial decisions.

Programme collaboration

Joint activity can involve separate responsibilities for academic oversight, teaching, recruitment, learner records and public information. A working plan should identify who decides each matter and which permissions must be obtained before implementation.

IESG can coordinate that operational preparation. Academic recognition, programme rights and regulatory approvals remain with the bodies entitled to grant them.

Programme partnerships

Market and decision support

Focused research can inform choices about audiences, channels and potential institutional relationships. The brief should identify the decision and distinguish information about the market from assumptions about a particular programme's likely performance.

An output records its sources and limitations. The institution can then consider the findings alongside capacity, offer design and the resources required to follow through.

EducationB2B

Universities, colleges and other eligible providers can explore EducationB2B's professional partnership network through the platform's own routes. Its current membership information explains participation and review arrangements.

The company website remains the route for a separately commissioned institutional task. Platform participation and a company engagement can be relevant to the same institution without being the same service.

Working with institutional teams

Identify the lead office, internal approval route and contacts responsible for programme, recruitment or contractual information. The scope should establish the outputs needed by those decision-makers and the information the institution will supply.

If the work must meet a procurement process, include the requirements and decision timetable at the outset. An enquiry does not bypass the institution's internal approvals or create an appointment.

How we work

Prepare for the first discussion

The partnership brief tool can help record your objective, proposed contribution and unresolved questions. Existing institutional information can provide the starting point; it need not be reformatted before an initial enquiry.

Writing a partnership brief

Discuss the proposed activity

Include the institution, programme or service concerned, relevant markets or partners and the support required. We will use that outline to define the appropriate next discussion.
